“Man, because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never fully lived.”—Dalai lama
Be kind to yourself and others. Sometimes, caught up in some important task, we put undue pressure on ourselves or another. It’s important to be kind and gracious to everything and everyone we meet. It is not weak to be kind. It is a mark of true character — it reveals the love at the core of our being.
“1. Surround yourself with passionate people. This is the foundation. Most people don’t believe you can do work you love because they’re constantly around people who hate their jobs and don’t know what excites them. This has to change. Those around you have everything to do with your success and your belief of what’s possible. You’ll either rise up or sink down depending on who’s next to you.
Passion is contagious. You must have an environment that embodies it. You need a support crew who believes what you believe. People who dream as big as you or bigger. Not only will they give you ideas but they’ll condition the belief that doing what you love is the norm. They fuel our passion and make the unthinkable possible, even normal. You’ll begin to expect the same of yourself.”
I guess things have been aggravated by the fact that I do not have that support group. Currently, I do not have friends around me who share the same passion and interests. No one around me can help keep me fired up about work. In fact, everyone around me tries to convince me that I am not happy about my job. No one seems to be as driven as me. And it really makes things hard. No man’s an island. Now where’s my soulmate…?
So now, I find it imperative to declare that I do enjoy what I am doing. It is just too unproductive to continue debating whether I feel otherwise. I just have to accept that as reality and not let anyone make me waver. Things will work out for good in the end. But there is definite room for improvement in terms of the environment, culture and basically how things work. Also, I really hope to fulfill my personal goals.
I will continue to wait and see. I am sure everything work out for the best!
